Description

Spring Class
Class format consists of a 3 part video watercolor painting demonstration of the lesson by the instructor during the morning and after lunch, with plenty of time to paint with individual help from Julie. A quick, informal critique of the class work follows at the end of the day.

Having problems with painting leaves on trees? Help is on the way. We will paint a tree using saran wrap for the foliage.Try it out and see if this method works for you! We’ll also paint a Maine water scene with boats, dock and water. A peony with an interesting, wet background will finish the class. We will paint these 3 paintings plus one of your own choice.

What makes a good painting? The ingredients are: line, size, shape, direction, texture, color, and value. Remember, COLOR gets all the adulation, but VALUE does all the work!

When you emphasize one or two of these DESIGN PRINCIPLES: Unity, Balance, Harmony, Dominance, Conflict, Repetition, Variation, Gradation and your painting gets interesting.
